2017 is shaping up to very busy and VERY exciting!! We are now in our new unit on Totnes Industrial Estate – Unit 6 Burke Road. Here are some of the events we are hosting, co-hosting or catering for/ contributing to!
Every weekday from 12 noon – 2pm we are having a popup lunch takeaway – everyday we are serving different seasonal specials – light lunches, hot, cold, small and large options to hungry estaters. Come check us out?
On the 14th April 2017 The Kitchen Table is hosting the second Kitchen Bar – pop up cocktail bar and eatery! At our new unit on Burke Road from 5.30pm. Come for drinks from Bar Blah Blah, food and fantastic music. Last month was a huge success and we look forward to making this one even better!! No need to book, just rock up and enjoy a drink with some delicious, seasonal, affordable food; small plates so you can have as many or as few as you wish.
Also on the 14th April 2017 The Kitchen Table will also be at The Bay Horse Inn Totnes, helping Beer Festival goers enjoy their beer and cider with some delicious slow roasted meat and veg option to be decided. The Easter beer and cider festival is always a huge success and we love it!! See you there!!
We carry on at The Bay Horse Inn on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April 2017 doing our ever popular BBQ. On Saturday we will be open from 1pm – 9/10ish and on Sunday from 1- 4pm. The menu is likely to be;
- Luscombe’s-own sausages
- Blue cheese stuffed beef & mushroom burgers,
- Lamb, nettle and wild garlic burgers,
- Middle Eastern beetroot, walnut & tofus burgers (vegan)
- Lemon and rosemary marinated chicken fillets
All served in Baker Tom’s rolls with homemade slaw and organic salad leaves
We’re back at The Bay Horse Inn on the 23rd April 2017, just because we love it! For St George’s Day Beltane Morris dancing from 12.30 selling delicious burgers and cakes again! Another fab event we have done many times before – do come along for a lovely afternoon of British culture and fantastic entertainment!
That same day, 23rd April 2017 we will be in the Rotherfold from 1pm – 6 for the Street Games festival selling tea, coffee, cakes and more! Come and see us all afternoon for fun and games (literally!!)
The following weekend on the 28th April 2017 we will be in the Totnes Civic Hall serving delicious savoury and sweet treats to gig-goers at the Dartington Party in the Town from 8.30pm til the end. We’ll be there with New Lion Brewery, our favourite beer boys!
On the 6th May 2017 we will be serving delicious seasonal soup and organic bread in the Civic Hall Totnes for the Earth Sharing Devon event; Liberty Tree
Two years ago we catered the first TEDxTotnes and it was epic! We loved it and it was amazing to be surrounded by so many inspiring, thought provoking and interesting people. So, we were delighted when they decided to host it at Dartington again this year on the 12th May 2017 and asked us to cater it again, in collaboration with Food in Community! We will be using ingredients kindly donated by local businesses such as Riverford, The Almond Thief and Tideford Organics. I think tickets have all sold out (!!)( but there are opportunities to watch it live streamed in Totnes and on the internet after, so check out their website for more details.
That evening on the 12th May 2017 we will be hosting our 3rd Kitchen Bar at unit 6 Burke road with music, cocktails from Bar Blah Blah and delicious food from ourselves! (gluttons for punishment apparently??) From 5.30pm.
Then the wedding season goes into full swing but we still like to keep busy! So we will be at the Dartington Food Fair on the 28th and 29th May 2017. See you there for delicious vegetarian BBQ delights!
On the 25th June 2017 Bar Blah Blah and The Kitchen Table will be co-hosting our first Brunch Club serving espresso martinis, Mimosas, bloody mary’s and a tasty selection of interesting and varied veg, vegan and meaty breakfasts to please all tastes – watch our Facebook page for details. Beanbug will be there too selling teas and coffees !
I Think that’s enough for 2017!! Phew! I’m exhausted just recording it all! We can’t wait – we hope to meet you/ see you again at some or all of these fantastic events!!
On the 6th April 2016 The Kitchen Table is hosting Food on the Edges of Society – A Conversation cafe at the Barrel House, Totnes from 6.30pm. Guests are invited to enjoy an interesting talk from Dr Clare Pettinger about her ‘Food as a Lifestyle Motivator’ (FLM) research project, which explores the use of creative methods to engage ‘marginalized’ communities in food activities to enhance their health, well-being and life skills. Thought-provoking questions will then be offered for discussion over dinner, facilitated by Gill Coombs.
Clare is a Registered Dietitian & Nutritionist (Public Health) and works as a lecturer and research fellow at Plymouth University. She is currently leading cross-disciplinary research in food poverty/justice and has a keen interest in community engagement and social sustainability. Gill is an author (of “Hearing our Calling”), Green Party candidate for Totnes and life coach. We’re really excited to have two such inspiring and wonderful women on board for this foody and thought provoking Conversation Cafe.

On the 11th March, 2016 The Kitchen Table is hosting Mind The Gap – Pop Up event at the Riverside Cafe, Steamer Quay, Totnes, from 6pm. Guests are invited to enjoy live music, a multi course meal celebrating the best that South Devon has to offer; local, organic in-season and stored veg, foraged ingredients and an exciting bar selling cocktails (we’re working on these now!) and local wine and beer (from Sharpham and New Lion Brewery) as well as Luscombe’s soft drinks, mocktails, tea and coffee.
