Supplier of the Season – Winter – Bell & Loxton rapeseed oil

We have been using Bell & Loxton’s rapeseed oil for years now – it’s vibrant yellow, flavourful and robust – we use it for roasting & frying as well as in dressings. It’s a fantastic ingredient and means we can notch up another often ‘foreign’ ingredient as local. It hasn’t the lovely olivey taste of olive oil but it’s a really versatile and a great blank canvas on which to build and enhance other flavours.

“The award winning cold pressed rapeseed oil is grown, pressed and bottled on our farm in South Devon. A delicious, healthy alternative to other culinary oils; naturally rich in omega 3, 6 & 9 and less than half the saturated fat of olive oil. Grown and bottled in the heart of Devon, Bell & Loxton’s rapeseed oil also has fewer food miles than its Mediterranean counterparts.”

My favourite honey mustard dressing;
2tbs local honey (we use Dartmoor Honey and Vivians Honey)
1tbs organic dijon mustard
1tbs organic wholegrain mustard
4tbs Bell & Loxton rapeseed oil
3tbs organic cider vinegar (we use Ostlers)

Put all the ingredients in a jar and shake vigorously until they’ve emulsified and mixed completely. Season to taste

We serve this salad dressing with our mixed organic salad leaves from School Farm Organics on Dartington estate, near Totnes at most of our catering events. The variety of textures, colours and flavours in Sarah’s lovingly grown salad is a firm favourite of mine and I love that she also provides stunning edible flowers which look gorgeous on our wedding, celebration and business lunch buffets

Weddings 2017

After an incredibly busy and successful, fun and interesting wedding season, we’re gearing up for the next one already! We’ve quoted for loads and have several weddings booked and are looking forward to visiting some more wonderful Devon venues and meeting some more lovely brides and grooms.

This year we catered weddings, parties and celebrations in a variety of venues from village halls to fantastic fields, barns, yurts and marquees, often with glorious views of the sea or rolling hills. We’ve served drinks on cliff tops, BBQ’d in farm buildings, fed guests in gardens and farm yards.

Here is a list of some of the spectacular venues we’ve worked in;

These are just a few :)

There have been fire pits, fireworks, paper pompoms, homemade cakes, cheese’cakes’ decorated with edible and beautiful flowers, sweets and activities for the kids and music from some fantastic bands!

What I love about my job is the insight I get into people’s creativity – the attention to detail brides, grooms, their friends and families give to their wedding day. From the way they decorate the space, to the seasonal menu choices they make, to their outfits, the cake and the flowers; I find that people are wonderfully creative and inspired and that no one wedding is ever the same!

If you’re getting married in 2017 or 2018 within 40 miles of Totnes, contact to discuss your wedding day/ eve food – we will design a bespoke menu to suit your budget, venue facilities, style and theme, using the best of local, often organic produce to create delicious and interesting seasonal dishes. We happily cater for meat, gluten free, vegan, dairy free and vegetarian diets and have some lovely, interesting dishes to please all your guests.

We provide staffing to help serve canapes, drinks, food and dessert. We also have lots of associates we highly recommend – check out our ever-growing ‘businesses we love’ page for flowers, music, bar provision and photography.
