I thought I’d post a blog about what’s been happening here at The Kitchen Table HQ. We moved here at the very end of November 2016, just in time for Christmas and we had a really busy and exhausting December. January was all about settling into the unit, changing how we used the space as we became accustomed to the equipment we had been given or bought. In February we started selling takeaway lunches Monday to Friday from 12 – 2pm to local business owners and workers on the industrial estate. After a slow start, we started having regulars and the clientele grew. By May it became apparent I needed to employ staff to help Frankie, myself and the ad-hoc kitchen hands who’d been supporting me. This month we welcomed a second chef to help more regularly and the pop up takeaway lunch service is set to grow and improve!
In March Dita from Bar Blah Blah and I started a collaborative project called The Kitchen Bar and have put on several pop up cocktail evenings (they are hosted at the unit, once a month) and will be putting on our second Brunch Club this Sunday, also at the unit. These have been so much fun! Lots of people have come to enjoy amazing, seasonal and creative cocktails, delicious seasonal small plates, tunes and in recent months, DJ Jose Verde and al fresco eating in the warm summer air, on Totnes Industrial Estate!
In addition to a plethora of glorious summer weddings at delightful Devon venues, we have catered a number of funerals, family gatherings, holiday cottage dinner parties, a surprise murder mystery hen do and some business lunches and events. We are constantly busy and it’s been a really great privilege to help with so many parties, ceremonies, celebrations and events.
And so we continue. If you need a healthy, tasty, seasonal lunch on a weekday come see us at Unit 6 Burke Rd, Totnes (near Peter Tanner) for a takeaway lunch (5p off if you bring your own plate or tub!) or sit in the sun and enjoy a iced coffee and cake after your food. We are open Mon-Fri 12-2. Check out our Facebook Page, Twitter and Instagram for info about upcoming pop up events we are either collaborating on or hosting in the next few months – we have some really exciting things in the pipeline!
